šŸ“… The 12-Week Year

Forget yearly goals.

In The 12 Week Year, Brian Moran argues that yearly goals are useless. We should make goals for every 12 weeks instead.

So... I have completely restructured my goals for 2025, starting by breaking my year up into 12 weeks which, conveniently, is the length of an average quarter.

Now I recommend doing something I am very against... which is to not read this book.

I know, I know. I am a book-lover telling people not to read?! But seriously don't.

šŸ’” Here is the summary: Make goals every 12 weeks (roughly a quarter), and pick 5-ish (less than you think you need).

That's it.

That is all you need.

šŸŽÆ Examples

These are my Q1 12-week goals. Yes, I broke my own recommendation of (5) goals. Next quarter I am going down to 5-10 goals because I have learned my lesson (in the form of exhaustion lol).

Q1 Goals

I track my goals in Notion so I can always see my progress. I like to link each goal to a "vision" which is a separate table with an overall vague idea of what I want to be "known" for. This helps with my "why."

Q2

I have already set aside some priorities for Q2 which is looking booked at the moment. I most likely will add 1-2 more to this lineup (YouTube videos?).

Q3

Again, I set aside some work for Q3. This might not look like a lot, but it is a large project. I'll most likely add 1 more goal to this quarter.

Q4

Since Q4 is so far away, I haven't planned anything yet so who knows!?

šŸŽŸļø Events

Another thing I have been tracking is social events. I keep reading that your happiness and health are directly tied to your social and community activities. I want to start prioritizing people.

This seems super overwhelming now that I am looking at it. But so far I feel more connected.

šŸ“– Books

I have read (8) books this year - and if I were to recommend just (1) it would be The 5 Types of Wealth. It's all about balancing social wealth, with physical wealth, with mental wealth, etc.

šŸŽ¬ Videos

Recently, I got back into YouTube after recovering from neck surgery in November.

It was a good reminder that health is everything. It can put all your goals/ambitions/dreams on hold. I took time to fully recover and dropped everything.

Stay healthy out there!
